Thin Mints and G-Money Take a Trip

Picture yourself as a Colonel, sitting in a helicopter, a Black Hawk. Designed for small level troop transport, you and a few others are strapped in, baggage and all. The rotary blades above you spin and slash at the air, the vibrations tangible through the floor. They get faster and louder, a helmet clad pilot shuts a door next to you, and this rotary wing aircraft is suddenly airborne.

A few minutes into your ride a junior enlisted soldier, grinning as he says it shouts out, “Wait! Didn’t I see this in a movie?”

You and the other officers riding this air taxi glance over at the young man. Mild interest flashes in some faces, mild annoyance in some others.

“Yeah! It was Black Hawk Down,” he concludes above the roar of the engine.

Suddenly, those faces of interest and annoyance turn to nervousness and worry. You might throw a sly smile of sardonic understanding his way, but it’s more than likely that you glare while his supervisor, lip raised in a snarl of disgust shouts in a whine, “That’s not funny!”

But for sure you’ll want to laugh when you watch him say, with every drop of professionalism, “I know, it was a very serious movie.”
